Balule River Camp, situated on the banks of the Olifants River, is located in the Balule Nature Reserve, which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park. Kruger is one the world’s most known wildlife sanctuaries. 80% of Kruger lies within the Limpopo region and conserves over 147 mammal species, 507 birds species, 114 species of reptiles, 49 fish species and 300 tree species.
Balule River Camp is approximately 5hrs drive from Johannesburg Int. Airport (ORTIA) or a 1 hour flight to either Hoedspruit or Phalaborwa Airport, which are a mere hour’s drive from the camp. Transfers can be arranged to and from any of these airports as well as Nelspruit Airport (KMIA) where there are a 2 and a half hour drive.
The climate is subtropical. In summer between October and February the temperatures are high and cool clothing is recommended. In winter between May and September, temperatures can be cold, especially on game drives, so remember to pack warm clothing.
